The Fish
The lake has initialy been stocked with over two tons of carp.They are now coming out over 40lbs on a weekly basis, with high 30's and carp over 25lbs showing regularly.
Great care was taken in sourcing the fish in order to have prime specimens in mint condition that have never been fished for before. The fish have been introduced slowly to the lake in order to minimize their stress levels and maximise their growth rates. See more of our fish in the Gallery.
The first ton
In October 2006 the first ton of carp was added to the lake's existing stocks. They had an average weight of 24lbs and were fed daily on a high protien carp pellet (34%) . The carp exceeded all expectations in their first year and have simply piled on the pounds. Prospering on both the pellets and abundance of naturals available to them. The average weight had increased by approximately 7lbs over the past year!
The second ton
The second ton was introduced in December 2007. They are from the same local stockist and are the same strain as i was so pleased with the initial stocking. Their average weight was higher than the first ton with some absolutely cracking fish already over 30lbs!!
With a controlled feeding programme i have great expectations of these fish.
